About A New York City native who spent her high school years in L.A., Melissa Silverman is a visual thinker whose work shows her unique perspective; a perfect blend of real life, comedy and quirk. From studying the unique characters of her downtown neighborhood to exploring remote Icelandic locales (think population of two and some puffin), she's sparked by endless sources of creative inspiration and humor. This eclectic swirl of influences shows clearly in her work. As a director, Melissa got her start in the pop culture emporium that is MTV On-Air Promos. She’s worked with talent including Madonna, Conan O'Brien, Jennifer Lawrence, and the Foo Fighters. At MTV, she conceptualized, wrote and directed many award-winning campaigns, including the VMAs, 20th Anniversary and ‘Coordinates’, the first International still photography based campaign involving over 80 photographers and 20 directors worldwide. Melissa's commercial clients include Starz/Directv, McDonalds, United Way, Universal, Revlon, Motorola, Tuborg Beer, and Genworth Financial, among others. She also earned a recent Emmy nomination for Nickelodeon. Other awards include Art Director's Club, British Design and Art Direction, RESfest, BDAs, and Tellys. Publications include Not Teflon: MTV Design and On-Air: The Visual Message & Global Language of MTV. Her photography was recently featured in FRMAG and Modern Luxury.
